ImageMarko Vrhunec, partizan, politični komisar Ljubljanske brigade in šest let šef kabineta predsednika SFRJ Josipa Broza Tita, je v samozaložbi izdal knjigo z naslovom Josip Broz Tito: osebnost, stvaritve, titoizem: pričevanje.

ImageBuilt to withstand a 20 kiloton nuclear explosion, the bunker of the late Yugoslav leader Josip Broz Tito, located near the Bosnian town of Konjic, has found quite a different role more than thirty years after it was built - as host to the Biennale of Contemporary Art, D-O ARK Underground. Organised by the Association for the promotion of Visual Arts "Kult Zone" Sarajevo, Collegium Artisticum from Sarajevo and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Republic of Srpska, with the partnership of the Centre for Cultural Decontamination from Belgrade, the Biennale was named the cultural event of the year 2009/2010 by the Council of Europe. Due to financial difficulties, the official date of the opening of the Biennale has been postponed several times, leaving May 27, 2011 as the latest arrangement.

Inside Tito's luxury playground

ImageFormer Yugoslavia under the late communist leader Marshall Tito never fitted the Soviet template for its satellite states. Rebuked by Moscow for being "too independent" he was courted by statesmen, royalty and celebrities from all over the world, and whenever they visited him, they were entertained in decidedly un-Communist manner, as Frank Partridge discovered. From the holiday coast of north-west Croatia, it is a 20-minute ferry ride to Brijuni, an archipelago of 14 islands that for the last 30 years of Josip Broz Tito's extraordinary life became his private playground. Tito would spend up to six months of the year on the islands, gardening, fishing and enjoying a lifestyle of luxury unimaginable to most of his people, if they had ever known about it.
